Christopher Carey was born in the Bronx, the youngest of five children born to William and Marie Carey. At the age of two, his parents decided that they needed more room to raise their large family so they moved to Bardonia in 1964.
Christopher attended and graduated from:
- Bardonia Elementary
- Clarkstown Junior High School
- Clarkstown South in 1980
Upon graduation, Christopher attended Manhattan College where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During college Christopher also worked on his father's successful campaign for a seat on the Clarkstown Town Council.
Christopher's time at Manhattan College was also significant in that he met his future wife, the former Maureen Taylor. They were married in 1987 and after a few years in Edison, NJ they returned to purchase Christopher's childhood home in Bardonia from his parents so they could raise a family. Daughters Tara and Anna were born in 1993 and 1995, respectively.
During the next decade Christopher successfully juggled family, career and educational responsibilities. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Telecom & Computing Management from Polytechnic University and an MBA in Finance from Long Island University.
As his children got older, Christopher once again engaged in local politics, serving as the campaign chair for Councilman George Hoehmann successful run in 2009. He also worked on the campaigns for Town Council of Catherine Nowicki, Frank Borelli and the late Ralph Mandia.
Christopher has also been very involved in the Town of Clarkstown serving on:
- The Special Board for the Town Comprehensive Plan
- Chairman of the Special Board Subcommittee for Historical and Cultural Resources
- Historical Review Board
- Architecture and Landscape Commission
- Planning Board
Christopher is involved in several local not-for-profits serving on several boards including:
- Camp Venture, Inc.
- Rockland County Municipal Planning Federation
- Clarkstown Family Resource Center, Inc.
Christopher is also very active at St Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack where he has held numerous key volunteer positions including:
- Past Parish Trustee
- Current member of the Finance Committee
- Current member of the Building Committee.
- Chancellor of the Knights of Columbus McCloskey Council #4565
Christopher is extremely proud of his two daughters who attend Clarkstown South High School. His oldest Tara, currently a senior at South, has decided to pursue her college education at Manhattan College in the fall – the same school that brought her parents together all those years ago.
